The Quality Manager for Catalyst Manufacturing (Tolling Operations) will be responsible for overseeing and managing the quality assurance and control activities associated with our tolling relationships. This role will ensure that our toll manufacturers adhere to strict quality standards and regulatory requirements while delivering products that consistently meet our specifications. The Quality Manager will serve as the key point of contact between our company and toll manufacturing partners, driving quality improvements, conducting audits, and ensuring all products are delivered on time and to specification.

Key Responsibilities

Toll Manufacturing Quality Oversight:
  • Establish and maintain quality standards for catalyst products produced through tolling arrangements.
  • Conduct audits and inspections of tolling facilities to ensure compliance with our quality and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with tolling partners to ensure consistent quality throughout the production process, from raw material sourcing to final product delivery.
  • Ensure timely and accurate reporting of quality metrics and adherence to production schedules.
Quality Assurance and Control:
  • Develop, implement, and enforce quality control procedures specific to toll manufacturing operations.
  • Review and approve material specifications, production processes, and final products, ensuring they align with the company’s quality requirements.
  • Ensure that products are consistently tested and validated in line with our quality protocols.
  • Monitor and track key quality performance indicators (KPIs) related to toll manufacturing, including yield rates, defect rates, and rework statistics.
Supplier Management & Communication:
  • Manage relationships with toll manufacturers, ensuring open and effective communication regarding quality expectations, timelines, and performance.
  • Collaborate closely with tolling partners to resolve any quality issues, defects, or delays in production.
  • Provide guidance and training to toll manufacturers as needed, ensuring they understand and can implement quality standards effectively.
Root Cause Analysis & Corrective Action:
  • Lead investigations into quality issues and non-conformances related to toll-produced catalysts, using tools like Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA).
  • Initiate corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and monitor their effectiveness in resolving quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives at tolling facilities to reduce variability and increase process consistency.
Compliance & Documentation:
  • Ensure all tolling activities comply with relevant regulatory standards, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and any applicable industry-specific certifications.
  • Maintain accurate records of audits, inspections, product releases, and non-conformance reports.
  • Manage the preparation of quality documentation for customers, including Certificates of Analysis (COA), batch records, and compliance reports.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Work with internal R&D, Marketing, and Production teams to ensure toll manufacturers are aligned with product development and production needs.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain team to ensure timely delivery of quality materials and components to toll manufacturers.
  • Communicate with customer service and sales teams to address any quality-related customer inquiries or complaints.
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track and report on key quality metrics for tolling operations, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Analyze trends in quality data and work with toll manufacturers to implement improvements that drive long-term quality stability.
  • Prepare and present comprehensive quality performance reports, including non-conformance trends and improvement actions, to senior leadership.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in quality management or laboratory management, preferably in the catalyst or chemical industries, particularly in toll manufacturing operations.
