Duties & Responsibilities
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides leadership for all instructional programs, including both credit and non-credit.
- Fosters a culture of transparency, collaboration, and professional growth within instructional services and between instructional services and other areas of the college.
- Leads the integration of academic, non-credit, and student support services to ensure holistic student success.
- Maintains and builds relationship with community and with other institutions to benefit students and programs.
- Supervises the Associate Vice President of Student Services (AVPSS), who oversees recruitment, admissions, dual credit, financial aid, academic support student services, and student life programs.
- Oversees Learning Resource Center and the Bookstore/Café.
- Oversees budgets for academic programs, workforce and continuing education, non-credit training, and student services with a focus on financial sustainability.
- Works with Luna stakeholders to secure and oversee grants and workforce development funding to expand educational opportunities.
- Fosters a culture of evidence-based decision-making by advocating and supporting assessment.
- Ensures institutional compliance with accreditation policies, workforce training regulations, and grant funding requirements.
- Ensures comprehensive student development and support while prioritizing the well-being and academic advancement of all students.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Ability to inspire and encourage employees, challenge the status quo, and create buy-in for institutional goals.
- Proven ability to lead and manage academic, workforce, and continuing education programs, including non-credit and grant-funded initiatives.
- Experience in developing partnerships with employers, workforce agencies, and community organizations to enhance career pathways and economic development.
- Strong data-informed decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze workforce trends and student outcomes to drive continuous improvement.
- Expertise in accreditation, compliance, and regulatory frameworks related to both academic and workforce training programs.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships with faculty, staff, students, industry partners, and community stakeholders.
- Project management expertise, including the ability to oversee multiple initiatives, manage risks, and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of student information systems and instructional technology, with experience implementing innovative solutions.
- Ability to foster a culture of transparency, teamwork, and professional development across academic and student service divisions.
- Office environment with frequent student, faculty, and staff interactions.
- Requires occasional evening and weekend work for student events and initiatives.
- Some travel required for outreach, partnership development, and professional conferences.
- Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sits most of the time.
- The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading and visual inspection.
- The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
- Master’s degree in an academic discipline, workforce development, higher education administration, or a related field from an accredited institution; enrollment in a doctoral program required (Doctorate preferred).
- A minimum of six years of progressively responsible leadership in higher education, workforce development, continuing education, or a related field.
- Experience in academic administration, workforce development, and grant-funded program management.
- Fiscal management and budgeting experience is required.
- Experience managing grants or alternative funding sources to support institutional priorities.
- Experience with community colleges, technical colleges, or workforce training institutions is preferred.
