About the Role:
The Manufacturing Director will oversee all aspects of manufacturing and assembly operations. You’ll manage a team of six direct reports across key departments including Assembly, Warehouse, Procurement, Planning, and Process Engineering. Your primary focus will be leading people and process: ensuring safety, improving efficiency, reducing costs, and supporting the execution of New Installation and Modernization projects. The role also involves cross-border collaboration with teams and suppliers in Mexico and frequent communication with global manufacturing leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a cross-functional manufacturing team, providing direction and coaching to promote performance, engagement, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee all manufacturing operations, driving lean principles, Six Sigma, and on-time, on-budget project execution.
- Foster a strong safety culture by implementing proactive programs, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing comprehensive safety training to all employees.
- Lead and develop cross-functional teams across Planning, Manufacturing Control, Engineering, Procurement, Logistics, and Production, promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
- Optimize inbound and outbound logistics, enhance material flow, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely, cost-effective procurement.
- Manage inventory accuracy through ERP/MRP systems, cycle counts, physical audits, and automation strategies to maintain 95% accuracy.
- Partner with Engineering, Quality, and Project Management to align production schedules with demand, support new product introductions, and minimize inventory disruption.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives using KPIs, Lean, Kaizen, and Six Sigma to reduce waste, improve efficiency, and boost productivity.
- Align long-term manufacturing strategy with business goals through capacity forecasting, workforce planning, and strategic resource allocation.
- Lead financial planning for the manufacturing function, monitoring costs, optimizing budgets, and reporting performance metrics to leadership.
- Collaborate with international teams to ensure global process alignment, share best practices, and maintain quality and consistency across regions.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field required.
- 10 years of manufacturing experience, with 5 years in a leadership role managing cross-functional teams.
- Proven background in assembly or manufacturing of complex, heavy industrial equipment required.
- Experience working in a multinational environment; familiarity with Mexican manufacturing operations is a plus.
- Strong working knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint).
- Proficiency in Spanish is highly preferred due to ongoing communication with suppliers and internal teams.
