The Contract Microsoft SQL DBA will work 100% on-site and be responsible for routine database administration tasks. IE : Database restores, installation and configuration based on provided set of standards. Contractor will be exposed to complex enterprise applications in production and non-production environments. Experience with on- premise and cloud environments is preferred.

Duties

Management of SQL databases in non-production and production environments.

Database backup / recovery and capacity monitoring.

Able to write / manage scripts in TSQL, PowerShell, DOS batch.

Ability to work within the confines of a ticketing system.

Able to assist on any database issues regarding application deployments / changes / functionality in real time environments.

Work closely with Infrastructure Technology database management team and application development teams to ensure database operational continuity, availability, integrity, recovery, and security.

Support DevOps related database pipelines and Cloud database initiatives.

Resolve database integrity, performance, blocking, connectivity, and high availability issues.

Qualifications

10 years of experience in SQL database administration.

Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019, and 2022.

Experience with DevOps and Cloud Platforms (AWS, Azure)

Experience with other database RDBMs for example Postgres, Redis, Mongo

Experience in HA / Failover technologies.

Experience with SQL Server on VM.

Capacity to discuss and implement operational automation using TSQL, PowerShell, Python, Ansible or other scripting languages.

Excellent customer support and problem-solving skills.

Strong focus on achieving goals.

Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to clearly explain and document complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
