What are the responsibilities and job description for the Adjunst Faculty In Dance (2025-2026) position at LUTHER COLLEGE?
Luther College seeks one or multiple instructors of dance with ability and interest in teaching one, two or three courses beginning in Fall of 2025. We seek candidates to engage with undergraduates on our residential campus for the following courses:
- Contact Improvisation (Fall 2025)
- Choreography for a musical theatre production (Fall 2025)
- Musical Theatre Styles (Spring 2026).
Candidates interested and qualified to teach a single course or two of the three courses are welcome to apply. Preference will be given to candidates who can cover all three. These courses contribute to our Dance, Theatre and Musical Theatre programs.
This is an ideal opportunity for a recent MFA or a related field, or a professional with at least three years of industry experience. Strong preference will be shown for those candidates with previous teaching experience and/or experience choreographing for Musical Theatre. The successful candidate will communicate knowledge of and interest in teaching at Luther College. Candidates should demonstrate potential for excellence in college teaching and effectiveness in mentoring undergraduates of many experience levels. Robust faculty development is included in the position.

Instructor Qualifications:
- Experience teaching in either Contact Improvisation, Musical Theatre Styles, or both at the college level or beyond.
- Experience planning, communicating, and teaching choreography.
- A vision for working with students from diverse backgrounds and with a variety of abilities.
- MFA or professional work in the field of between 3-5 years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working collaboratively with a Theatre production team, especially coordinating with directors over artistic vision.

Adjunct faculty salary is on a per credit basis dependent on credentials and experience. The current compensation rate for adjunct faculty with 0-5 years of experience is $4,800 - $5800 per 4-credit course; placement on scale is dependent on credentials and applicable experience.
