Job Summary: The Staff Accountant plays a pivotal role in our finance team, contributing to the daily accounting operations and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records. This role involves active participation in month-end and year-end processes, as well as facilitating external audits.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Implement, maintain, and review transaction processing and accounting systems to ensure the timely and accurate recording of financial transactions and the preparation of monthly financial statements.
- Act as a liaison with external auditors, providing necessary records and documentation to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Assist with various accounting tasks including but not limited to filing State Sales Tax Returns, Rental Tax Returns, Workmen’s Compensation audits, and retirement plan functions as examples.
- Collaborate with the finance team to identify areas for process improvement and implement solutions to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of accounting functions and internal controls.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting and data analysis.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying discrepancies and resolving issues efficiently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or related software, with the ability to adapt to new technologies and accounting software platforms.
- Have an understanding of how Artificial Intelligence can improve efficiency and reliability in the accounting processes.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field desired.
- Minimum of three to five years of relevant experience in accounting or finance roles.
- CPA certification or progress toward certification preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and using a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally for tasks such as filing and moving office supplies.
