Lutheran Living is looking for a full-time Infection Prevention/Wound Nurse (LPN or RN) to provide loving and quality care and service to our residents living in our independent, assisted and memory care community. This position is responsible for the educational needs of the facility. This role will provide on-going training and education to the nursing staff to see that delivery of care of the members in the facility is in accordance with professional standards of practice, federal and state regulations and facility standards and processes. This position will also have the responsibility of ensuring proper training and practice of infection control standards and procedures.
KEY POSITION SPECIFIC ROLES & RESPONSIBILTIES
o Arranges all mandatory in-services for all departments annually.
o Determines the training needs of the nursing department and develops training and education.
o Develops annual training calendar.
o As requested will assist with individual departmental training.
o Assists with development of new procedures and policies with direction from the Director of Nursing.
o Develops orientation program for all new hires.
o Works with probationary staff to assist with job development.
o Audits systems to monitor compliance with regulations
o Communicates collaboratively with other members of the clinical interdisciplinary team, physicians, consultants, to obtain information and assistance in training needs.
o Develops and monitors infection control standards ~ educate staff on the standards.
o Ensures that safety and infection control practices are followed by all staff throughout the shift.
o Assists with investigations of all member concerns and incidents and identifies root cause(s) in a timely and complete manner; implement intervention to safeguard the member; completes required documentation; and reports incidents in accordance with regulations and standards of practice.
o Completes all records and reports as requested and in accordance with facility policy and practice standards.
o Provides information to the quality council according to facility standards.
o Assists with the hiring of new employees in the nursing department.
o Actively involved in nursing leadership team
o Serves on facility committees, councils and teams as assigned.
o Participates in the interview and hiring of unit staff as directed by the Human Resource Director.
o Orients and coaches staff in accordance with human resource policies and processes.
o Participates and assists with orientation, ongoing educations of nursing personnel to meet member care needs and ensures compliance with professional standards and regulatory compliance.
o Performs other duties as assigned.
