8:00am-12:00pm

Responsible for leading a variety of land and aquatic exercise programs suitable for older adults.

Responsibilities

Support the Recreation Coordinator in the daily operations. Depending on the community this may include the recreation center, fitness center, and therapy pool.

Depending on the community may open the pool and fitness room.

Check locker areas.

Watch all fitness areas for safety.

Secure fitness area at the end of the day: Depending on the community this may include any or all of the following: lock office, all pool doors, and Senior Fit entrance.

Assist residents with pool door when needed ( i.e. walker/cane/oxygen-hold door).

Maintain safe swimming environment for swimmers.

Observe swimmers/water walkers for safety during open pool times.

Lead a variety of land and aquatic exercise classes according to the schedule and as designed by the Recreation Coordinator.

Monitor the pool and spa area including checking water temperature and chemical balance. Adjust temperature and chemicals as needed according to written instructions and as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.

Maintain the pool and deck area.

Clean and sanitize the recreation. Depending on the community this may include the pool, locker rooms, showers, hallways, office, and exercise room.

Report any equipment malfunctions or hazards to the Recreation Coordinator.

Communicate with the Recreation Center Coordinator regarding supply inventory.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• High school diploma or equivalent is required
• Must be CPR certified upon hire or within 31 days of beginning employment with LSS
• Life Saving Certificate preferred, but not required

Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.

The employee must be able to maneuver in the water (4’ swimming pool) with ease and speed.

A well-lighted and ventilated working area that has its own temperature control system (air conditioning and heat).

Some exposure to chemicals and hazardous waste.
