Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Specimen Collector to join our healthcare team. Responsibilities
- Collect specimens such as urine, and other bodily fluids from patients using aseptic techniques.
- Ensure proper identification and labeling of specimens to maintain integrity and traceability.
- Perform phlebotomy procedures competently and safely, adhering to established protocols.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following laboratory procedures and safety guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with patients to explain the collection process and alleviate any concerns.
- Collaborate with clinical laboratory staff to ensure timely processing of specimens.
- Document all collection activities accurately in accordance with medical terminology standards.
- Assist in laboratory management tasks as needed, including inventory control and equipment maintenance.
Skills
- Knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology relevant to specimen collection.
- Proficiency in aseptic techniques to prevent contamination during specimen collection.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting preferred.
- Familiarity with laboratory procedures and protocols for specimen handling.
- Ability to perform cardiac catheterization or catheterization procedures is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Effective communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare professionals.
