This is a position of an administrative nature involving mental health program planning, analysis and coordination of services to children and adolescents. The position assures that outreach and services to children and adolescents with multi-systemic needs are provided in a timely, effective and coordinated manner with a focus on resiliency and lease restrict method of intervention. The scope of responsibilities of the CASSP (Child and Adolescent Service System Program) Coordinator includes assurance of coordination and delivery of child/family-focused, quality services for residents throughout Luzerne and Wyoming Counties.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Scheduling, coordinating and conducting case review meetings. Work with interagency partners including school districts, Children & Youth Services, Mental Health, Intellectual Disabilities, Juvenile Probation, Drug & Alcohol Services and numerous private providers. Coordinate with established CASSP teams in Luzerne and Wyoming Counties as well as with ad hoc Multi-Disciplinary Resource Teams (MDRT) organized to meet a child or family's special needs. Serve as Mental Health Administrator On-Call during non-business hours, assisting crisis and clinic based service staff to assure appropriate delivery of Mental Health services to residents within Luzerne and Wyoming Counties. This includes administrative Mental Health Delegate function. Participate in the development and implementation of a comprehensive CASSP plan unique to Luzerne-Wyoming Counties. Advocate for the incorporation of CASSP "Principles of Service to Children" in the community. Create and maintain interface with entire child-serving system and the Office of Human Services executive director, MHDS Advisory Board, CASSP Administration team and CASSP Advisory Committee. Receive and determine the appropriateness of requests and designate all meeting dates and times. Develop and implement interagency needs assessments. Coordinate and/or originate service development strategies, proposals, and grant writing activities. Report developments in children's mental health arena to participants in the CASSP project and others as appropriate. Establish contact with parents and child (as appropriate) to learn about the family's concern prior to the meeting. Advocate and provide for the inclusion of parents and consumers in a meaningful way. This could include, but is not limited to, individual treatment planning, service development, service evaluation and policy development. Provide special advisory services and support as requested to various community agencies and educational programs as necessary. Negotiate the financing of service plans developed with team members representing the involved agencies and systems. Follow up on the status of the plan within eight to ten week period after the CASSP meeting. Identify service gaps and frequently occurring service delivery systems' issues. Maintain up-to-date collection of resources regarding facilities, agencies, programs and community supports that serve children and families. Respond to all telephone and written requests for resource information and consumer/family complaints in reference to children and adolescent services. Design necessary mechanisms and periodically survey CASSP meeting participants to assess the effectiveness of the CASSP process. Staff and chair the CASSP Administration Team. Participate in regional and state CASSP meetings and activities. Participate in cross systems projects. Maintain and chair the local CASSP Advisory Committee. Other duties as assigned.
