Overview:
We are a leading civil construction company specializing in roads, bridges, and highways, seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Estimator to join our team in Alexandria, VA. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in estimating large-scale infrastructure projects, with a focus on transportation-related construction. This role requires an individual with a strong background in cost estimating, a deep understanding of civil engineering principles, and a passion for delivering high-quality results.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Estimation: Lead the estimation process for civil construction projects, particularly focused on roads, bridges, and highway construction, including preliminary budgeting, detailed estimates, and final project pricing.
Project Analysis: Analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to prepare accurate cost estimates, considering labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor requirements.
Bid Preparation: Develop competitive and comprehensive bids and proposals, ensuring compliance with client specifications and industry standards.
Value Engineering: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and clients to identify cost-effective alternatives and value engineering opportunities while maintaining high project standards and safety protocols.
Vendor & Subcontractor Coordination: Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and subcontractors. Solicit quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure optimal project procurement strategies.
Risk Management: Identify and assess project risks related to cost, schedule, and scope, and provide mitigation strategies to minimize financial impacts.
Project Documentation: Maintain detailed records of estimates, changes, and communications with vendors, clients, and stakeholders.
Mentorship & Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to junior estimators and support team development. Encourage continuous improvement in estimating processes and best practices.
Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, including project managers, engineers, and construction teams, to ensure project feasibility and smooth implementation of the construction plan.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. A Master's degree or professional certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator, LEED) is a plus.
Experience: Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in estimating for civil construction projects, with a strong emphasis on roads, bridges, highways, and other transportation infrastructure.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., AgTek, HCSS HeavyBid, or similar), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant tools. Strong knowledge of local building codes, construction materials, and labor costs.
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data to stakeholders, clients, and project teams.
Leadership & Teamwork: Proven experience leading a team of estimators and collaborating effectively with project teams
Salary : $120,000 - $200,000
