The ELPT Proctor/Assistant supports the administration of the federally and state-mandated English Language Proficiency Test for 91 English Learners (EL) at LFNO.
Roles and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include preparing materials, monitoring group test sessions, and individually administering sections like speaking. The role ensures compliance with testing protocols to accurately assess students' English proficiency.
Curriculum and Instruction
- Planning, organizing, and providing instruction through a consistent instructional program in order for students to meet and exceed learning targets and the requirements outlined by state and federal law.
- Providing a nurturing, supportive, and positive learning environment with high expectations that encourage student responsibility, enhance motivation, clearly communicate classroom routines, and incorporate challenging instructional strategies.?Assisting classroom teachers in the development of appropriate curriculum to help ESL students acquire the English language.
- Working with classroom teachers to support differentiated instruction.
- Assisting in the development of language acquisition support plans (ESL plans) for all ESL students and working with classroom teachers to implement plans.
- Assisting in the completion of ESL Accommodations Forms and ESL Progress Reports.
- Being an active member of the Student Assistance Team and attending related meetings as requested.
- Preparing accurate rosters and accommodation plans for students to be used in the classroom and during standardized testing.
- Facilitating effective home-school communication.
- Attending professional development programs for ESL as requested by school administrators.
- Advocating for the program needs required to meet the learning needs of English learners.
- ESL Coordination
- Administering required language proficiency tests for determining student placement, ongoing monitoring of student progress, updating student placement in Powerschool, and evaluation in meeting language acquisition goals.
- Maintaining a complete and accurate database of ESL and ESL-eligible students as wESL as evidence of students’ growth and progress.
- Organizing and implementing a schedule for ELPT assessment.
- Understanding and complying with the policies, rules, and regulations regarding ESL students.
- Assisting in the gathering of data for reporting requirements (to the State, grant applications, etc.).

Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s Degree or other advanced degree(s)
- Five (5) or more years of successful teaching experience in an urban setting
- Previous experience teaching ESL
- Working knowledge of French and/or Spanish
