The Thermal Acoustical Solutions Segment offers a full line of innovative engineered products to assist in noise and heat abatement within the automotive and industrial markets. The business manufactures acoustical damping and thermal insulating solutions comprised of fiber and metal based composite product constructions. These products are typically found in the interior (dash insulators), underbody (wheel well, fuel tank, exhaust) and under hood (engine compartment) of passenger vehicles, heavy duty trucks, recreational vehicles as well as in other industrial applications. The segment employs approximately ~1400 employees with operations in the U.S., Germany, France, and China.
Job Summary:
The TPM and Fabrication Technician will fabricate and assemble metals structures and equipment using various welding techniques. This role is also responsible for general maintenance duties ensuring productive and safe operation of machinery and mechanical equipment are effective.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Prepares materials for welding, cutting, grinding and cleans metal
- Accurately and safety conceptualize then welds fixtures that solve operational needs
- Tests and inspects welded surfaces ands structure to discover flaws
- Maintains equipment in all machining areas
- Resolves safety issues on all equipment.
- Repairs equipment failure (downtime).
- Determines root cause failures and alleviate issues on assigned equipment.
- Records all unscheduled down time on equipment in designated Hydra system.
- Communicate usage, needs and sourcing of components.
- Assists in the implementation of projects, PMs and other machine repairs and maintenance
- Assists in the installation of equipment as requested.
- Assists in the development of continuous improvement activities as requested.
- Serve as an active participant in LSS programs that promote continuous improvement.
- Preventative and predictive maintenance activities to maintain and improve equipment uptime and performance while enhancing OEE%
- Must adhere to all company and location policies and safety rules
- Must be able to work extended hours when required
- All other duties as assigned
Education, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required for Consideration as a Candidate: (If a degree is required it must be from an accredited institution)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Two-year technical shop degree or certifications in technical aspects of maintenance (hydraulics, pneumatics, basic electricity, welding, etc.) or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years of work experience is required as a minimum
- Must be able to read, write and understand English
- Must be able to read blueprints, measure, cut and weld metal to precise specifications
- Strong mechanical maintenance, fabrication, welding and machining background
- Comprehensive knowledge of TPM (Total Preventive Maintenance)
- Must demonstrate ability to perform root cause analysis and possess excellent troubleshooting skills in high pressure environment
- Computer skills are a must – Word, Excel, CMMS
Preferred or Additional, Experience, Education, Skills and Abilities:
- Certified Welder (CW)- Welding certification from technical school strongly preferred
