What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Counselor position at Lyme Shores Racquet Club?
Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Summer Camp Counselor for our Multi-Sport Camp. The ideal candidate should be self-motivated, energetic, and passionate about creating a positive and engaging camp experience for children ages 5-16.
Responsibilities:
- Group Leadership: Lead and supervise assigned groups of campers during various activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Activity Coordination: Run designated camp activities in the multi-sport program, promoting participation, skill development, and a sense of teamwork.
- First Aid and CPR: While certification is preferred, the counselor should be knowledgeable and prepared to administer basic first aid when necessary, ensuring the safety of campers.
- Staff Training: Attend and actively participate in staff training sessions before the start of the camp to familiarize yourself with camp policies, emergency procedures, and program details.
- Collaboration: Work closely with camp supervisors, ropes course coordinators and fellow counselors to create a cohesive and positive camp environment.
- Communication: Maintain open and effective communication with campers, parents, and other staff members, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
- Role Model: Serve as a positive role model for campers, demonstrating sportsmanship, teamwork, and a positive attitude.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children in a camp or recreational setting is preferred.
- First Aid and CPR certification is preferred.
- Must attend mandatory staff training sessions prior to the start of the camp.
- Knowledge or experience in leading and coaching multi-sport activities is an asset.
- Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic about creating a memorable camp experience.
Duration: This is a seasonal position for the duration of the 10 week summer camp program. (June 2025 - August 2025)
