POSITION SUMMARY
- A highly qualified candidate will provide school-level leadership while serving as an instructional coach to support teachers in literacy instruction and to collaborate with the literacy team and classroom teachers in efforts to support identified students with literacy invention. They must demonstrate a deep understanding of best practices in instructional coaching, incorporating state standards, division curriculum expectations, and student data analysis to drive student achievement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- This position provides school-level leadership and coaching to support teachers in effective literacy instruction and provides high-quality literacy instruction to students that is aligned with state standards and curriculum, using research-based reading and writing strategies to support learners in a flexible small group setting.
- As a literacy leader for the school, this role involves modeling best practices, offering one-on-one coaching, and facilitating professional development to enhance instructional strategies, while also leading the building-level literacy team.
- In collaboration with the classroom teacher, the Literacy Coach analyzes student data to inform decision-making, ensures alignment with state standards and the division’s high-quality instructional materials for literacy, and supports differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs.
- Additionally, they collaborate with administrators, teachers, and student support staff to implement division-wide literacy initiatives and foster a culture of literacy.
- Through ongoing professional learning and curriculum support, the Literacy Coach plays a critical role in improving student achievement.
- In addition, the Literacy Coach meets and works with the division-level literacy team to review literacy data and plan best practices for literacy instruction.
- In collaboration with the building-level administrator, this position helps to maintain and organize Title 1 federal documentation for the school.
- As a teacher, the candidate would assess student progress, analyze data to inform instruction, and implement targeted interventions for struggling readers.
- They collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and families to support literacy development, participate in professional learning, and integrate best practices and high-quality instructional materials for literacy to strengthen instruction.
Additionally, they work closely with their school-level literacy team to promote division-level literacy initiatives and literacy activities and events for students and families.
