Lyndon Institute is seeking to hire a full time Work-based Learning Coordinator for FY26. This position will work an 11-month schedule, having the month of July off, and will report directly to the Director of CTE.
Description:
Work-based learning provides students experiences in work environments that expose them to the postsecondary job opportunities in our local region. Through these experiences, students will build both industry standards skills and experiences as well as the skills needed to be a productive employee while still being supported through Lyndon Institute. Finally, these opportunities particularly help students make the connection between academic principles and real world applications.
General Responsibilities:
The Work Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator is responsible for the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of a range of work-based learning experiences that take place outside of the school. Additionally, the Coordinator will support students and employers in planning and implementing safe, effective, and authentic learning experiences as identified in the seven standards for work-based learning. It is crucial that WBL opportunities are continuously updated based on stakeholder evaluation data, current and emerging professions, and economic trends as identified by the Regional and Local Advisory Boards.
A Work-based Learning Coordinator will:
- Establish work-based learning experiences that reinforce students’ personal, academic, and career goals
- Inform students, guardians, and educators about work-based learning experiences available to students
- Provide, in collaboration with College and Career Counselors, career resources and postsecondary planning materials to students
- Research and attend training opportunities to gather information about successful work-based learning programs
- Research potential employers through personal networks, professional organizations, and local and state agencies and contribute to a shared database of WBL opportunities
- Collaborate with content area educators, when applicable, to ensure students are meeting content-based proficiencies when students are in long term WBL experiences
- Network with other WBL Coordinators and Vermont Agency of Education resources to share promising practices and improve strategies to resolve challenges
- Ensure compliance with the established Lyndon Institute Work-Based Learning agreement document developed with the guidance of the Work-Based Learning Manual provided by the Vermont Agency of Education
- Disseminate program information to all stakeholders as needed
- May have the potential for teaching assignment
Experience:
- Minimum of three years of experience in education, business/nonprofit operations, career services.
- Experience as a teacher, counselor or school administrator in middle or high school (preferred)
- Experience related to local and/or state graduation proficiencies, proficiency-based assessment, proficiency-based portfolio development, using data to inform decision making; and other best practices in education
- Working knowledge of career readiness and preparation, including the development of flexible personal learning plans as indicated by ACT 77
- A working knowledge of the Vermont Labor Laws
- Strong collaboration and communication skills
- Self starter, flexible and willing to work beyond the school day schedule as necessary
- Innovative thinker
- Knowledge of the economic and social landscape of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Endorsement as Work-Based Learning Coordinator (or ability to obtain endorsement)
- Vermont Teacher Licensure (preferred, but not required)
