The Job You Will Perform
- Responsible for all emissions monitoring data, air pollution control monitoring, compliance report population, internal data reviews, signatory/approval process management, and report submission to regulatory agencies per deadlines.
- Responsible for impecible recordkeeping of reports and conversations with regulatory agencies.
- Responsible for renewing permits and licenses and submitting minor and major modifications as needed.
- Responsible for knowing and understanding specifics of regulations for decisions to protect compliance in upset conditions and operator training.
- Coordinate regulatory stack testing with contractors and state from planning through report submission.
- Lead compliance surrogate updates through management of change (MOC) processes as needed. This role leads the sustainability of operator alarms, notifications, tag conditional formatting, and operator/leader training to ensure the change is reflected in all engineering and administrative layers of defense.
- Provide third party contractor oversight and complete QA/QC assessments of data to ensure only quality data is submitted to state organizations.
- Responsible for developing requests for proposals, evaluating bids, choosing contractors year over year, and managing both the projects and budget of the projects under the guidance of the Environmental Manager.
- Responsible for managing contractors
- Assist in overall uptime of compliance monitoring equipment
- Responsible for participating in all safety programs.
- Responsible for maintaining all documentation required by regulations and all Standard Operating Procedures required for the Environmental Services operational unit.
- Responsible for weekends on-call (as scheduled) to assist the mill with environmental compliance issues and during annual wastewater discharge season.
- Provide weekly updates to EHS team on work performed and propose solutions to issues as needs arise.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related field
- 5 or more years of successful environmental, engineering, or operations experience, preferably in a pulp and paper manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Air Pollution Controls and CEMS

- Management experience preferred with operators and/or maintenance staff
- Ability to work remotely and be self-driven
- Computer skills including Word, PowerPoint, and the ability to learn new computer programs as used by company adopted programs
- Maintain a valid driver’s license
- Ability to work in a high pressure environment
