Lyon Road Art Academy is looking for a fine arts teacher and planner to join our small and passionate team. We are committed to providing approachable and engaging art instruction to our local community, and we need someone who shares our energy and dedication. This role requires a teacher who is dependable, organized, and can handle multiple responsibilities while ensuring that classes run smoothly and without cancellations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create and Teach: Develop fun, engaging art lessons and teach 1-3 classes a week, catering to various age groups and skill levels. Class schedule is flexible, but will typically require a couple weeknight evenings and a few Saturdays a month. Subjects rotate monthly.
- Class Setup & Cleanup: Prepare materials and set up the space for each class, and ensure the studio is cleaned and organized after each session.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with team members, coordinating schedules and assisting with studio duties. Complete tasks efficiently as directed and ask questions when needed.
- Communication: Maintain effective communication with students, parents, and guest instructors via email, phone, and booking platform.
Planner/Marketing Role:
- Class Scheduling & Planning: Collaborate with team to create seasonal class calendars and organize lesson plans.
- Social Media & Promotion: Take photos of student work and class activities, post on social media, and manage the studio’s online presence.
- Weekly Newsletter: Write and distribute a newsletter to keep students and parents updated.
- Local Marketing: Design and distribute posters and flyers in local areas to promote the studio and upcoming classes.

- Strong Communicator: Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and team members.
- Art Expertise: Solid knowledge of various art techniques and materials and experience teaching students with varying skill levels.
- Organized and Efficient: Comfortable using tools like Google Products (Gmail, Chat, Voice) and Trello to stay on top of tasks and communication.
Nice to Have:
- Interest in taking on additional marketing tasks like planning new events, local event promotion, attending chamber meetings, or further developing the studio’s outreach initiatives.
