The Process Specialist for the POSM is accountable for providing technical support for the daily operation of the units in that area. The individual will manage the daily activities for the area and will define operation problems and promote solutions. In addition, the Process Specialist has the responsibility for the reliability issues, quality, production, safety, and environmental compliance in these areas.
- Supports GoalZERO by incorporating sound process safety, personnel safety, and environmental principles to all operational and maintenance job activities.
- Provides leadership role for the safety and environmental effort of the unit. Participates in plant safety programs, process hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
- Sets unit priorities to accomplish the daily initiatives within the unit.
- Audits unit status on a daily basis and provides direction through the shift supervisors.
- Resolves process issues through troubleshooting/historical knowledge and applies solutions in a timely manner. Knows when and who to get involved for such issues.
- Thoroughly investigates causes for unit and equipment upsets and failures, unit downtime, and reduced rates.
- Works in a team to determines root causes, and technical solutions to support goals for unit quality, reliability, and production.
- Provides cornerstone consistency of the unit.
- Works with engineering to update operating procedures, operating ranges, and safe operating conditions in support of the plant's process safety management effort. Serves as final approver to authorize updates to procedures for technicians.
- Participates in the mentoring of new technicians and engineers. Contributes in the unit technician certification process by participating in unit chalk talks and field walkthroughs.
- Coaches technicians training on the board as well as technicians certified on the board by having continuing discussions to improve their unit knowledge, troubleshooting efforts, and situational response.
- Understands and continuously evaluates the overall knowledge of shift personnel and their technical capabilities; provides input and makes recommendations to improve the operational & technical skills of the shift organization
- A minimum of 7years working in POSM operationsor 5 years with degree required
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are required due to the frequent interaction with department personnel and other functional groups.
- Strong communication skills.
- The critical competencies for this position are communication, teamwork, problem solving and decision-making, results orientation, initiative, relationship building, and technological orientation.
- Must possess or obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card prior to first day of employment.
- Must successfully pass pre-employment screening process to include drug screening, background check, and prior employment verification.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without visa sponsorship (U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident)
- Must be willing to support a shift organization in a 24 hour, 365 day per year operation.
- 10 years working in POSM operations preferred
- Technical understanding of POSM operations.
- Preferred knowledge of POSM Tank Farm Operations.
- Experience with SAP and Intelex databases, advanced knowledge of MOWP?
