Job Description: Lyra Music, Summer Music Camp Counselor
Overview: Counselors will live and work with Lyra Music directors, staff, faculty and approximately 15-20 classical music students (ages 13-18) on-campus at the Storm King School, Cornwall-on-Hudson, NY and will work with a team of 2-3 counselors under the direction of the program directors. Counselors will serve as leaders and role models for the students and work to ensure their overall safety and well-being. Applicant should possess a high level of enthusiasm, energy, patience, compassion, fairness, strong listening skills, and the ability to relate to teenagers as well as a strong desire to contribute to the supportive, engaging, fun spirit of the Lyra experience.
Counselor Responsibilities:
- Attend and assist at all Lyra Festival/Young Artist Program events (concerts, outreach, masterclasses and excursions)
- Administrative Assistance (pre-camp set-up)
- Provide student supervision at all concerts and outings
- Work closely with Lyra Directors to design and develop student social/recreational activities
- Lead and engage students in daily afternoon and evening group social activities
- Monitor wake-up and bedtime routines and all student meals
- Oversee student free periods providing guidance and assistance with social engagement
- Ensure student safety and follow all safety guidelines associated with the program
- Act as role models for all students
- Qualifications:
- Ability to work collaboratively with faculty/staff and to provide support to students to enhance their participation
- Team player with positive attitude, enthusiasm, sense of humor, integrity and adaptability
- Enjoy working with teens and tweens
- Ability to communicate and work with children across a variety of age levels
- Ability to lead and engage all students in activities and to manage behavioral issues
- Self-starter with the ability to accomplish tasks with minimal direct supervision
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Must have the physical ability to lead and participate in recreational activities including, but not limited to: hiking, swimming, physical games, campfire building, etc.
- Must pass background check
- Must live on campus with Lyra students and staff and be available for the full duration of the program: June 27-July 12, 2025

Compensation:
- On-campus housing for the duration of the program, residing with Lyra Music students, faculty, staff and directors
- All meals for the duration of the program: beginning the evening of June 27-July 12, 2025
- Salary range $300-$400/Week
