The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of accounting principles, experience within the hospitality or restaurant industry and a passion for ensuring financial accuracy and integrity.
Job Summary: The Accounting Manager will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting functions of the company, including general accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with senior management, external auditors, banks, investors, and other stakeholders to provide financial insights that support business decisions. This role is fully on-site at their Miami office.
Job Responsibilities include:
- Oversee and manage all accounting functions, including journal entries, general ledger, accounts payable (AP), accounts receivable (AR), and payroll.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies. Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial records.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
- Develop operational reports and analysis to support the business and leadership in decision-making.
- Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies, banks, investors, and other parties.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and financial forecasts, monitor actual performance against budget and provide variance analysis.
- Provide insights into financial performance to support strategic decision-making.
- Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring that financial statements are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
- Prepare and review adjusting journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Coordinate year-end audits and prepare necessary documentation for external auditors.
- Manage the company's assets, liabilities, and capital accounts. Ensure proper classification and depreciation of assets. Maintain detailed schedules for all fixed assets and liabilities.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements. Prepare and submit necessary reports to regulatory agencies (tax filings, compliance reports, etc.).
- Work closely with department heads to track costs, analyze financial trends, and provide actionable insights.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities for the accounts payable staff, manages schedules and workflow.
- Provides day to day guidance and oversight; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or equivalent certification preferred).
- 2-4 years related work experience or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate a team.
- Proficient on Toast POS, Oracle, Micros Excel and Word.
- Working knowledge of month-end, inventory management, processing PO's and Receiving.
- Acute attention to detail. High commitment to excellence and high standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work with high level stakeholders and other levels of management.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, analytical skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and workflow.
- Good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions.
- Supervisor experience preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
