The Community Engagement and Event Manager is a versatile position focused on planning exceptional events, fostering meaningful community relationships, and enhancing the organization’s visibility. The role combines event production, partnership building, public relations, and donor stewardship to support the organization’s strategic goals. A successful candidate will be creative, highly organized, and a proactive team player passionate about community engagement and impactful outreach.
What you'd be working on:
Special Events
- Lead the planning and execution of all organizational events in collaboration with internal teams, sponsors, and volunteers.
- Oversee event logistics, timelines, budgets, and production to ensure success.
- Negotiate vendor contracts and secure auction items and in-kind donations.
Community Outreach & Partnerships
- Represent the organization at virtual and in-person community events, strengthening existing partnerships and exploring new opportunities.
- Build non-philanthropic strategic relationships that enhance organizational visibility and align with its strategic plan.
- Manage memberships with the Chamber of Commerce and other relevant organizations to maximize engagement.
- Serve as a liaison for initiatives such as United Way agency tours and corporate engagement activities (e.g., volunteer projects and corporate campaigns).
- Foster relationships with local high schools, colleges, and nonprofits to broaden community exposure.
Volunteer Engagement
- Create and manage a comprehensive volunteer program that exposes participants to the organization’s mission and values.
- Recruit, train, and oversee volunteer committees to support events and community activities.
- Develop meeting agendas and provide ongoing guidance to volunteer leaders.
Public Relations
- Act as the main point of contact for PR agencies and oversee all PR activations.
- Collaborate with PR partners to promote the organization’s mission, philanthropy, and retail initiatives.
- Seek speaking engagements for executive leadership, emphasizing thought leadership and mission education to raise awareness.
- Curate influencer relationships and campaigns to align with the organization’s brand and values.
Marketing Support
- Coordinate marketing tasks, purchase orders, and invoices, ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Update and refine marketing procedures as necessary to streamline processes.
- Donor Stewardship & Data Management
- Manage financial and transactional data for events, ensuring accuracy and integration with donor databases.
- Develop personalized stewardship practices for sponsors and attendees to enhance donor experiences.
Who you are:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or Event Management Certification with 5 years of relevant experience.
- Proven expertise in event planning, fundraising, community engagement, and public relations.
- Proficiency in virtual platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams) and a willingness to adapt to new technologies.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal); bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Public speaking expertise and a natural ability to build and manage relationships.
- Valid Florida driver’s license with a clean driving record.
