We are a growing, fast-paced property management office located in Farmington Hills, MI seeking a property accountant.
The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, dependable, self-motivated and highly organized. The applicant will Process daily and month-end transactions, maintain balance sheet schedules and review and reconcile property taxes and other liabilities, Oversee cash deposits and review profit and loss statements, delivering reports on all items to leadership and key clients.
Property Accountant Duties and Responsibilities
Compiles and analyzes financial information in preparation for entry into various financial statements and accounting reports and makes appropriate journal entries for recording in the general ledger by checking calculations, reviewing basis for figures, and balancing and reconciling figures.
Reviews budget, revenue, expense, payroll entries, invoices, and other accounting documents and researches and resolves discrepancies as necessary.
Performs bank reconciliations and wire transfers for deposits, makes mortgage payments and distributions, and ensures accuracy.
Maintains and coordinates accounting control procedures by analyzing revenue and expenditure trends and recommending appropriate budget levels to ensure expenditure control.
Communicates with on-site and other property managers to assist in completing pre-close and close activities, answer questions, provide support, and ensure timely completion of accounting processes for on-time client and Company reporting.
Present regular accounting reports to key clients
Oversee cash disbursements and maintain cash books.
Requirements and skills
Proven accounting experience (>
3yrs) as a Property Accountant :
o Preferably in commercial real estate, property management, 3rd party administration environments
o Client-facing and high-volume experience - critical
o Multi-Entity or Multi-Location Accounting - critical
A high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Competency in MS Office, databases, and accounting software
Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and financial reports
strong communication, customer service, and organizational skills.
Education & Experience :
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 30 PM.

Salary : $70,000 - $85,000
