Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Margin Operations Associate to join our growing operations team at M1. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the daily margin operations process, monitoring margin calls, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. You will play a key role in supporting risk management initiatives and ensuring the smooth execution of margin-related activities across M1.
This position is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of financial markets, margin requirements, and risk management, and who thrive in a collaborative, dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
3 years of experience in margin operations, risk management, or trading operations within a financial institution or trading firm.
Strong understanding of financial markets, trading products (equities, futures, options, etc.), and margin requirements across various asset classes.
Proficiency with Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups) and familiarity with trading platforms (e.g., Bloomberg, Reuters, or other trading systems). Experience with risk management or margin systems is a plus.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze large sets of data, identify trends, and derive actionable insights related to margin and collateral management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex margin and risk information clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Ability to quickly identify problems and develop effective solutions under pressure, particularly during volatile market conditions.
Collaborative and capable of working cross-functionally with traders, risk managers, compliance officers, and other stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.
