The Ivy Street School is a small, year-round, private residential special education school committed to advancing equity and access for young people living with disabilities. We serve neurodiverse adolescents ages 13-22. Job Description
We are seeking a Postsecondary Learning Coordinator to join our team. The Postsecondary Learning Coordinator, under the supervision of the Director of Career Development, organizes and coordinates Ivy Street’s postsecondary learning program in conjunction with the career development, education, and transition teams. They will lead in developing Ivy Street School’s network of postsecondary learning partners. This position also assists with planning, implementing, and evaluating the technical and administrative components of postsecondary learning, registration, accessibility services, accommodations, and off-site learning logistics.
This position collaborates with career counselors and members of the interdisciplinary team to connect students to post-secondary learning opportunities that align with students’ strengths and needs and represents Ivy Street School in the community through networking, developing, and managing community partnerships.
Responsibilities include:
- Develops relationships and acts as liaison between colleges, technical schools, adult education centers and the Ivy Street School
- Generates, supports, and follows-up with community connections to provide community-based postsecondary exploration opportunities to students
- Meets individually with students and pushes-in to classrooms to support the development of postsecondary related skills: (campus visits, school/program research and application, class registration, coursework completion, professional communication, and goal setting)
- Consults with career counselors, teachers, and members of the interdisciplinary team and refers or connects students to resources and opportunities
- Tracks registration deadlines and course offerings at partner schools, and works with the career development and transition teams to share information with students and families
- Demonstrates knowledge of accommodations, and supports students with the process of requesting them
- Promotes the building of relationships and connection to natural supports in community-based learning settings
- Transports students to and from postsecondary opportunities by driving, utilizing public transportation or utilizing ridesharing services
- Supports students in navigating college coursework in collaboration with the education team
- Models organizational, time management, and study strategies to support students’ post-secondary learning success
- Instructs campus-based College Preparatory Seminar
- Participates in the IEP process by:
- Provide documentation and updates on progress for students enrolled in postsecondary education
- Consults with team members in planning for students transition and updating the TPF (transition planning form)
- Collaborates with team members to develop goals and objectives, and to identify accommodations
- Completes paperwork by deadlines including weekly documentation, progress reports for IEPs and state agency treatment plans, etc.
- Provides support to milieu when needed
- Attends monthly and weekly collaboration meetings for transition aged students to address postsecondary needs/concerns
- Attends monthly in-service trainings to support professional development
- Initiates and maintains parent contact, as needed
Supervision, support, and professional learning are provided. Ivy Street School is driven by trauma-informed care, and we use Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports and Restorative Justice to support positive behavior development and deepen character. Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in vocational rehabilitation, psychology, education, or a related field
- 1-2 years’ experience working with neurodivergent youth
- Experience working in career services and/or academic support services preferred
- Certifications in First Aid, CPR, CPI (Ivy Street School can provide these trainings)
- Valid driver’s license
- A background check, drug and alcohol test will be performed prior to start

Job Type: Full-time, in person, hourly, non-exempt
Hours: 8:30-4:30, Monday-Friday. This schedule is subject to change based on student needs.
