The Team
Admissions primary focus is on intake diversion through education and access to services and resources. Diversion may consist of keeping the pet in the home, or helping owners to rehome on their own so the animal can avoid coming to the shelter. The Admissions team manages the population of animals coming to OHS both in quantity as well as behavioral and medical needs. Admissions is responsible for the intake of an animal and the initial behavioral evaluation, physical exam and escalation of concerns for further consideration of intake.
The Position
The Admissions Technician is a vital member of the OHS Shelter Operations team responsible for providing the highest quality of care to animals in residence at the Oregon Humane Society and facilitating interactions with the public. Responsibilities support one of the following departments : Animal Care, Customer Care or Admissions. These activities include feeding, cleaning, intake, and adoption support of animals; customer service, hospitality and responsiveness to OHS visitors. All OHS staff members contribute to the stewardship of the organization’s mission and are expected to stay current on and understand issues related to animal welfare and OHS programs. Please note, this schedule will include at least one weekend day.
