This position serves as a strategic human resources director and will be responsible for the design, implementation, and communication of the company’s total reward strategy. The director is responsible for ensuring all of our reward programs, including benefits, compensation, and HRIS and payroll systems are competitive, sustainable, scalable, and have an impact on the long and short term performance of the organization.

Position Duties / Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities :

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership in the design, development, implementation, administration, and communication of our Total Rewards programs including health, welfare, wellness, retirement, base pay, incentives, and other rewards.
  • Develops Total Rewards philosophy and supporting policies and practices.
  • Leads discussions with key stakeholders and partners to define and refine benefit, compensation and HRIS and payroll strategies, programs, and practices to support business objectives and elevate the employee experience at MacAllister Machinery.
  • Partners with leadership to leverage compensation and benefits programs to meet organizational objectives.
  • Oversees the management of benefits vendor relationships, benefits contracts, and bid negotiations.
  • Designs and administers compensation programs including base and variable pay, merit, compensation planning, and market analysis with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Analyzes the market competitiveness and cost-effectiveness of our compensation and benefit plans to ensure they optimize our ability to attract and retain top talent.
  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of HR legal requirements, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed.
  • Facilitates HR projects and initiatives as required.

Supervisory Responsibilities :

  • Responsible for the execution and interpretation of policies and for the successful operation of assigned units. Has authority for hiring and disciplining employees. May be responsible for directing the work of first-line supervisors.
  • Position Requirements

    Required :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business related field (Human Resources, Business Management, Finance, etc).
  • 10 to 13 years or more of Human Resources experience including Total Rewards.
  • 7 to 10 years or more of leading people in an HR or Total Rewards environment.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred :

  • Master’s degree in business related field (Business Management, Finance, Marketing, etc.).
  • 12-15 years or more of Human Resources experience including Total Rewards.
  • 12-15 years or more of leading people in an HR or Total Rewards environment.
  • SHRM Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), or Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) credential.
  • Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Ability to respond to and handle confidential business and personal information / documents with poise, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Ability to read financial statements and metrics.
  • Strong coaching skill set and a high level of emotional intelligence.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective customer and professional relationships through strong interpersonal skills with emphasis on relationship-building and consistent demonstration of solid professional judgment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, deadline driven environment.
  • Skills in complex problem solving, critical thinking, and creative thinking.
  • Excellent communicator - an active listener, with strong written and oral communication skills, including strong presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, including creative thinking, decision-making and goal setting skills.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to manage change and conflict.
  • Ability to develop and implement processes and monitor performance with key process indicators.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations, filing, and compliance requirements affecting benefit programs including (ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Section 125, and DOL).
  • Detail-oriented and a team player with the ability to manage change, conflicts and projects.
  • Physical Requirements of Position

  • Required Occasional Day & Night Travel (0%-25%).
  • Frequent confined sitting (at computer, in car, etc.).
  • Frequent non-confined sitting (able to move about at will).
  • Frequent standing or walking.
  • Frequent rapid use of arms, hands or fingers, in handling or manipulating objects, or operating equipment, tools and / or instruments requiring fine eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasional unaided lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Frequent communication with other individuals. Must be able to exchange accurate information when speaking with customers, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Frequent use of near and far vision acuity. Must be able to identify objects within two feet or less and at a distance of 20 feet.
  • Work Environment of Position

    Position will work in an office environment but may experience occasional exposure to :

  • Extreme heat and cold (above 100°, below 32°).
  • Outside weather conditions.
  • Vibrations.
  • Wearing protective equipment (respirator, mask, earplugs, gloves, eyewear, etc.).
  • Walking or standing on uneven ground (gravel, rocks, mounds).
  • Noise (need to shout in order to be heard).
  • Air particles (Dust, gas, fumes, steam, chemicals, etc.).
  • Other Requirements of Position

  • Works under broad supervision. Designs and carries out programs and projects or far reaching objectives independently informing management as appropriate.
  • Major responsibilities require a wide degree of creativity and latitude. Only general objectives have been defined and few precedents exist.
  • If an error is made while in this position, it will require some effort to identify the error and can significantly impact the company financially.
  • Frequent communication with coworkers, customers, company executives, and management.
