What are the responsibilities and job description for the Development Director - Multifamily & Senior Living position at Macdonald & Company?
Macdonald & Co. is proud to be exclusively partnered with a commercial real estate development and investment firm based in Northern Charlotte to appoint a Development Director. Our client specializes in the development of multifamily, senior living and self-storage assets.
The ideal candidate will have 7 years of experience executing both horizontal and ground-up commercial real estate.
Reporting to the Vice President of Development and the wider executive team, the Development Director will be responsible for:
- Execution of development projects from inception to completion
- Overseeing the entitlement process and gaining approvals
- Creation and management of project budgets & schedules
- Regularly interacting with government officials & community members
- Manage any third-party project managers, architects, engineers, construction managers, etc.
- Work with legal on all contracts involved with the development and construction of the project
- Ensure projects are completed within budget and on schedule
- Manage project schedule and delivery
- Manage the initiation, planning, design, execution, monitoring, controlling and closure of a project
- Provides monthly status and progress reports
- Collect requirements, field questions, share relevant information and reporting along with the updates
- Establish and conduct weekly/monthly status meetings, and other meetings as needed
- Give presentation in front of local municipalities such as city councils, etc. as necessary.
- Coordinate communication and responsibilities for internal partners
- Create clear and attainable project objectives, manage the constraints of the project including but not limited to: cost, scope, schedule, and quality
- Create presentations and present to senior leadership
- Continuously looking for cost savings opportunities and areas to improve for future projects
- Ensure clarity of project roles and responsibilities with and to the project team · Other duties as assigned
