We are seeking a paralegal for our Civil Rights practice! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced attorneys in helping individuals whose civil liberties have been infringed upon or employment rights violated. As a key member of our legal team, you will play a crucial role in preparing documents, assisting with case management, all while supporting our mission to promote equality and justice for all. Salary: between $52,000 - $70,000 annual salary, depending on qualifications and experience (pro-rated for less than full-time schedule)

Responsibilities include assisting attorneys in all phases of litigation, from case inception through trial, which may include:

  • Managing litigation document database (importing, exporting, running searches)
  • Reviewing and analyzing documents and deposition testimony to assist attorneys with case analysis, summary judgment and trial
  • Working with clients and vendor to collect electronically stored information, documents, and other evidence
  • Assisting with drafting discovery answers and witness declarations
  • Locating and preparing exhibits for use at deposition, summary judgment, and trial
  • Requesting and tracking records (e.g. public records, medical records)
  • Locating, contacting, and interviewing witnesses
  • Setting up and running presentation software and other technology at trial
  • Performing various administrative tasks as required (e.g., legal assistant back up as needed)

Required Skills:

  • Smart, hardworking, willing to ask questions, attention to detail
  • Teamwork, skill and interest in working collaboratively with others in a collegial manner, positive attitude
  • Organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with sources of electronically stored information (e.g. social media, online job search platforms)
  • Familiarity with database searches
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Interest in civil rights or employment law issues
  • Ability to follow written instructions

Experience / Education, a plus but not required:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or Associate’s degree in paralegal studies, or Paralegal certificate
  • Paralegal experience in litigation, especially plaintiff-side
  • Familiarity with civil rules, discovery processes, legal terminology
  • Trial preparation and e-filing experience
  • Familiarity with NextPoint or other e-discovery database

Open to hybrid work schedule, three quarter time or full-time schedule.
