1st Lumber Inspector

Position Summary: The Lumber Inspector position is responsible for verifying the grade, color, and species of the lumber. This person must have a strong work ethic and attention to detail.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect lumber with integrity, verifying grade and color specs meet NHLA standards
• Utilize the Company’s product grading manual, internal limitations and allowances, thick stock and snipe tolerance, and packaging SOPs
• Ensure lumber is placed accurately and neatly into the appropriate cart.
• Prepare lumber for shipment.
• Continuously maintain a safe work area clear from debris, clutter, and dust.
• Operate the planer and other production equipment.
• Wear required personal protective equipment at all times.
• Maintain an excellent attendance record.
• Must be safety conscious, have a positive attitude, and work well in a team environment.
• Willingness to cross train and take on new tasks.
• Adhere to company policies and SOPs.

Language Standards

• Must understand spoken English

Minimum Requirements:

• Ability to work 8-10 hour shifts while standing
• Ability to lift at least 60 lbs.
• Ability to perform in a fast, labor-intensive environment with exposure to dust particles and loud machinery
• Capability of performing repetitive motions such as bending, twisting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and grasping.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.00 - $19.50 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
