Position Summary: The Logistics Specialist Position will manage domestic and export sales shipments from one of our lumber facilities.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review customer and sales order entries for accurate customer, inspection info, and shipping details
- Manage domestic and international logistics for one of our facilities
- Request and file freight rates for various lanes
- Secure and effectively communicate booking details to shipping partners
- Provide timely, clear and effective communication with sales, sales agents, customers, vendors, forwarders, truckers and freight forwarders
- Attend weekly one on one meeting
- Prepare and execute annual BMSB re-certification process for M&O facilities
- Complete and submit BMSB information on required cadence during BMSB season
- Prepare for and participate in Order Status meetings
- Serve as back up to logistics for our other facilities
- Understand, prepare, review, file and maintain export documentation related to shipments, destinations and US compliance law
- Navigate steamship line website/portals to secure bookings and upload shipping instructions
- Navigate USDA website and US Export and Border Patrol website to create export documentation
- Understand, prepare and release final documentation to customers or banks based on payment terms
Demonstrate the following:
- Problem-Solving Skills: Address and resolve shipment issues such as delays, damages, or customs-related challenges in a timely manner.
- Negotiation Skills: Work with freight carriers to negotiate competitive rates and terms for shipping services.
- Regulatory/Industry Knowledge: Stay updated on relevant regulations such as customs laws, tariffs, and export restrictions, ensuring full compliance in every shipment.
- Adaptability: Be flexible and adapt to changing priorities, customer demands, and unforeseen logistical challenges.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the logistics chain and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Multitasking Ability: Handle multiple shipping schedules, orders, and requests simultaneously without compromising accuracy or efficiency.
Language Standards:
- Must speak, understand, and write fluently in English
Minimum Requirements:
- Excellent Attention to Detail and excellent problem-solving skills

- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Office and Outlook programs
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
