What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Operator – East Arlington – 2nd Shift position at Mack Molding Co.?
Mack Molding has an opening for a second shift CMM operator at its East Arlington Plant in beautiful southern Vermont. As a member of Mack’s metrology team, CMM operators work with the Company’s Coordinate Measuring Machine to inspect parts and products, as well as calibrate mechanical instruments and gauges. As the manufacturing arm for our customers this is a critical role that contributes to the Company’s goal of total customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include ensuring parts are in compliance with customer specifications and ISO requirements and/or customer component quality requirements; using measuring devices and applying basic mathematical equations; and performing dimensional/visual inspections utilizing blueprints, DVQR and other relevant work instruction. This this role also is responsible for creating FAI documentation and other dimensional reports using Excel and other 3rd party software. Additionally CMM operators ensure consistency of product quality and identification information prior to shipment to internal or external customer, as well as properly label, identify inspection status and stores in accepted product per applicable ISO procedures. Within this role the CMM operator maintains open lines of communication regarding quality issues within departments including maintaining various logs, creating reports and following up on issues and may recommend modifications to work instructions and assists with training. He/she also will generate problem reports when required per ISO procedures, and performs a variety of quality tests and product verification procedures.
The ideal candidate will have one-year certificate from a college or technical school, or two years of related experience in a metrology/manufacturing environment. A successful candidate will have knowledge of ISO quality standards and procedures; reading and mathematical skills, including the ability to understand prints, procedures and instructions; and demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills. He/she must also have basic computer skills and familiarity with measuring devices. Preference will be shown to candidates with prior finishing, assembly or manufacturing experience, as well as knowledge of inventory, safety programs, forklift operations and team facilitation.
