What are the responsibilities and job description for the Materials Manager – East Arlington position at Mack Molding Company?

That is why the Company is looking for a materials manager to direct and coordinate the activities of personnel engaged in distributing materials, equipment and supplies at its East Arlington, Vt., facility.
This is a highly visible position with responsibility for supervising direct reports in the shipping and receiving departments, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. Additionally responsibilities include managing the development of production schedules for all manufacturing processes within the facility and generally planning, directing, coordinating, evaluating, mentoring and providing leadership for a 24/7 manufacturing and assembly operation. This role also manages and controls inventories for the facility, including managing inventory accuracy, conducting cycle counting, and conducting quarterly and annual inventories. In managing warehousing operations the materials manager assures adequate inventories are available to support production needs and meet customer orders. He/she manages incoming inspection and purchased part disposition as well as inventories at off-site warehouses, and coordinates transportation of resin, molded parts and purchased parts between Mack facilities. The materials manager also has responsibility for designing, implementing and maintaining material handling processes and equipment throughout the facility, and driving improvement programs to reduce inventories, increase inventory accuracy, increase efficiencies, maximize use of existing facilities and improve on-time delivery.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university, plus 2-4 years of related experience and/or training. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Additionally, successful candidates will have APICS certification and 3-5 years of experience with ERP systems, and preferably with MAPICS software. He/she should also have working knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software.
