Materials Manager
Job Description
Reports To: Plant Manager
Department: Materials
Division: Northern Division
Location: Arlington
Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Plans, directs, coordinates, evaluates and provides leadership/development/mentoring for manufacturing and assembly operation;
- Ensures compliance with all appropriate safety, health, and other applicable regulations, and with ISO requirements;
- Manages the development of production schedules for all manufacturing processes within the facility;
- Manages shipping and receiving operations;
- Manages and controls inventories for the facility, including managing inventory accuracy, conducting cycle counting, conducting quarterly and annual inventories, etc;
- Manages warehousing operations, assuring that adequate inventories are available to support production needs and meet customer orders;
- Manages inventories at off-site warehouses if applicable;
- Coordinates transportation of resin, molded parts, and purchased parts between Mack facilities;
- Designs, implements, and maintains material handling processes and equipment throughout the facility;
- Identifies and implements improvement programs to reduce inventories, increase inventory accuracy, increase efficiencies, maximize use of existing facilities, and improve on-time delivery, while providing total customer satisfaction;
- Develops reports within ERP system to support plant and corporate business objectives;
- Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, plus two to four years related experience and/or training.
Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry; Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Computer Skills:
Knowledge of Word Processing and Spreadsheet software; Three to five years experience with ERP systems required, preferably with MAPICS software.

APICS certification
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Directly supervises employees in the shipping and receiving departments; Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws; Responsible for interviewing, hiring, and training employees; As well as planning, assigning, and directing work, and appraising performance; Rewards and disciplines employees, addresses complaints, and resolves problems.
