Position: Paint Technician
Reports To: Supervisor/Department Manager
Pay Range: Level 10 - Level 26
Essential Functions:
1. Maintains equipment, processes, and/or tooling to maximize efficiency and quality of production;
2. Troubleshoots equipment and machinery for production;
3. Operates various equipment and paint applications;
4. Performs quality inspections and follows ISO procedures;
5. Possesses working knowledge of paint systems;
6. Maintains updated customer expectations and quality standards;
7. Maintains required inventories to support maintenance functions;
8. Ensures all hazardous material is properly labeled and disposed;
9. Participates and drives cost reduction initiatives;
10. See, reads, and follows ISO procedures, completes departmental daily set-ups, sheets, and logs;
11. Maintains a safe and clean working environment;
12. Fosters a cooperative, productive, and team oriented environment;
13. Follows and adheres to lock out/tag out program;
14. Maintains good attendance, flexibility in job assignment, adaptable to changing business needs, and continually learns and applies new skills;

General Duties / Responsibilities:
Operate Equipment: Ability to operate hand and motorized forklift devices, hand, and power tools; all required painting equipment; troubleshoot minor electrical and hydraulic problems and maintain documentation for future reference.
Administrative: See, read, and follow departmental procedures in accordance with specific documentation and ISO procedures; complete and maintain general forms, reports, logs, and charting.
Quality: Paperwork accuracy; read and follow work instructions; recognize product defects and address; perform various quality inspections; use of measuring devices; troubleshoot to prevent defects. Helps identify root cause.
Productivity: Meet established performance standards; drive problem solving activities and cost reduction via troubleshooting / preventative maintenance; follow PM schedule; keep department equipment running efficiently and on schedule; relieve operators when required; perform initial start ups of jobs for samples and production. Able to handle multiple tasks/responsibilities; participate in cost savings initiatives.
Health/Safety: Follow safety rules, guidelines, and training given; cleanliness of workstation/housekeeping; maintain good personal hygiene; wear all required and appropriate PPE; recognize hazards and report or fix; participate in safety initiatives; report all accidents/injuries/near misses immediately; practice safe work habits.

Set Up: Assist in area/workstation/workbench set up as needed; help find efficient and effective methods; set up department equipment and ensure operating properly; test product runs for efficient and effective start ups.
Other: Pass on employee issues to supervisor/manager; other duties as requested; participate in the decision making process via gathering and presenting facts.

Pre-Requisites/Minimum Qualifications:
Previous paint experience preferred; Associates degree or certificate from two-year college or technical school desired; ability to troubleshoot minor electrical and hydraulic problems; ability to analyze, quickly identify, and efficiently correct part defects and equipment problems; ability to work independently in a fast paced environment.
Requisites for Achieving and Maintaining Pay Levels 24 β 26:
- Has achieved progressive merit increases up to Level 23.
- Served a minimum of 2 years as a Paint Technician.
- Meets goals; achieves a rating of above in majority of standards with no belows; not in
constructive action.
- Attend a minimum of one all day seminar/workshop every 2 years on a subject
matter applicable to shift technician with approval by supervisor.
- Transfers to and back fills other positions and departments as needed.
- Consistently meets and coaches others to meet job description duties and responsibilities.
