Description

Summer Camp Counselor:

We are currently seeking responsible, energetic counselors with a genuine passion for working with children to join our 2025 Seasonal Summer Camp Staff. Staff who can commit to the Camp Training Day and at least 6 weeks of camp are prioritized. 2025 Camps are as follows:

  • JR. Day Camp 
  • Lunch Bunch Camp 
  • PreK Camp 
  • Kids Club Camp 
  • Early Bird Camp 
  • Summer Camp Sessions 1 - 8

Purpose: These positions are seasonal employees/volunteers working under the supervision of the Camp Director. The main responsibility of these positions is to lead a group of campers in having an enjoyable, safe, and enriching camp experience.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the health, well-being, and happiness of campers.
  • Provide opportunities for the group so that all individuals experience success while at camp.
  • Encourage respect for other campers, personal property, camp equipment and facilities.
  • Guide campers in participating successfully in all aspects of camp activities.
  • Supervise, assist instructors, and actively participate in all aspects of the campers’ day.
  • Observe camper behavior, assess appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques.
  • Meet and communicate regularly with the Camp Director regarding concerns, updates, challenges.
  • Provide appropriate feedback and information to parents as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.
  • Maintain positive relationships with campers by showing sensitivity to campers’ emotional needs and problem solving any camper issues effectively.
  • Act as a role model for campers by following all policies and demonstrating enthusiasm, sense of humor, and self-control.
  • Implement positive behavior-management techniques.
  • Help maintain space and supplies.

Qualifications


Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience working with children; camp or other group experience preferred.
  • Ability to teach and lead various recreational activities.
  • Excellent character, integrity, and adaptability.
  • Ability to communicate and work with a variety of age and skill levels.
  • The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere.
  • Enthusiasm, sense of humor, patience, and self-control.
  • All positions require successful completion of a pre-employment background check. A state issued ID or Driver’s License is needed for this process.
  • A minimum age of 16 is required to apply for paid positions
  • Available Monday - Friday from June 2nd through July 25th. We will try to accommodate date conflicts; however, we do prioritize staff who can commit to the Camp Training Day, 6 weeks of camp.

General:

  • Demonstrates and enthusiastically supports the School’s Mission and values of courage, integrity, compassion, and excellence.

  • Builds deep relationships with students, families, and staff to foster a culture of inclusion.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Works in a noisy, fast paced environment both indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to occasionally lift 45 lbs.
  • Works intermittently in outside weather conditions which include daily exposure to sun, heat, water, and bugs.
  • Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury).
  • Must possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.
  • Prolonged standing, some bending, and walking required.
