POSITION DESCRIPTION
TITLE: “KIDS CAMP” TEACHER REPORTS TO: EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
POSITION SUMMARY:
Education is a cornerstone of the Maclean-Cameron Animal Adoption Center’s mission. “Kids Camp” teachers are responsible for the overall supervision of the children enrolled in our “Kids Camp” programs. Teachers carry out all daily activities, ensure the safety and physical well-being of the children, and work with the animal care staff to provide a high quality and fun camp experience! This opportunity is available multiple times a year, in 2-5 day blocks for approximately 6 hours a day, taking place over school breaks and holidays. Classes are split into multi-grade groups: K-3 and 4-6.
KEY RESULTS:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all children enrolled in programs
- Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans and consistently carry them out
- Coordinate with other staff and guest speakers to include pre-determined activities in lesson plans
- Maintain classroom management
- Leave classroom clean and organized prior to leaving each day
- Role model and work with children to understand the mission of the MCAAC
- Follow all procedures as directed in a safe, efficient, and effective manner
- Interact with fellow employees, volunteers, patrons, management and public with honesty, integrity, respect, and in a professional manner
- Comply with all regulatory requirements, including federal, state, local, and organizational statutes or rules
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Present lesson plans for approval one week prior to class
- Stay within pre-approved budget for supplies
QUALIFICATIONS
- Current or expired teaching credential/certificate/license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules and procedure manuals
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Availability to work 9am-3pm on class days
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing this job, employees will be standing, walking and active for most of the time.
$20.00/hr.
Week-long camps include 4 hours of paid prep time; 2-3 day camps include 2 hours of paid prep time
Job Types: Part-time, Temporary
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
