General Summary
Under direction, constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment, working from blueprints, drawings or oral instructions. Builds, repairs, moves and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim. Replaces damaged ceiling tile, floor tile and sheet plastic wall coverings. Operates a variety of carpenter's hand tools, power tools and measuring instruments.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Reads and lays out work from blueprints, drawings and models.
Performs rough and finish carpentry construction.
Constructs and repairs structural woodwork and equipment.
Builds, repairs, lifts, moves and installs counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework and trim.
Constructs and/or renovates offices and work stations.
Replaces ceiling tile, floor tile and sheet plastic wall coverings.
Makes standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
Operates a variety of carpenter's hand tools, power tools/equipment and measuring equipment.
Applies and installs plastic laminates.
Installs windows, doors/hardware and partitions.
Selects materials necessary for the work to be performed.
Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
- Possession of a high school diploma or a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development Test
- Successful completion of a current journeyman card for the Carpenter Trade
- Five (5) years of commercial carpentry experience
- Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license and operable, insured automobile for authorized travel
