EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP: Just cause subject to probationary period
GENERAL SUMMARY
Inspects construction sites and various properties where earth changes have been undertaken to ensure compliance with Part 91 of Act 451 of 1994 and the Macomb County Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Ordinance. Ensures adjacent streets are clean, silt fences, mulch mats, rows of sod are properly installed, onsite catch basins are properly protected, and any adjacent wetlands or drains are protected from sediment breach.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs storm and sanitary sewer, residential, and commercial inspections for soil erosion control.
Communicates with homeowners and builders to implement correct soil measures.
Files soil erosion permits and other related documents.
Communicates with the public regarding questions related to the permitting process, site complaints, and information of specific projects.
Assembles and maps daily workload, provides onsite recording of inspections, and compiles daily inspection reports.
Schedules site inspections and compiles permits.
Corresponds with the municipalities regarding site status.
Provides monthly and end of the year reports for soil erosion activity, storm water phase 2, and any other numbers or reports needed for the annual report.
Performs related work as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Education and Experience
  • High School diploma or GED
Required Licenses or Certifications
  • Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license, operable automobile and insurance
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Previous construction experience
Preferred Licenses or Certifications
  • Soil Erosion Control Certificate
  • Storm Water Certificate
  • Confined Space Certificate
