Macon-Bibb County Government's Board of Elections is seeking an Elections Outreach Specialist to enhance community engagement and awareness surrounding election processes. This role will focus on developing and implementing outreach strategies to inform and educate voters, ensuring increased participation and understanding of local elections. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a passion for promoting democratic participation in the community.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Coordinate administrative and operational support activities through outreach with programs designed to educate and promote Voting Elections and compliance. The target audiences of current voters, student voters and other non-registered voters in the community will be educated about voting history, the importance of election registration, how to become a poll worker or election worker, as well as hands-on election voting process (using the demo election equipment).This position will partner and interact on a consistent basis with local community leaders, Bibb County board of education schools, Local colleges and universities, non-profit organizations and other community vendors. Also, be the liaison between polling locations and election office to communicate and setup scheduling for the upcoming election days to ensure the election techs can coordinate timely delivery of election voting equipment. counsel and plan meetings, workshops, and other events in conjunction with specific outreach programs at those locations.Prepare educational/promotional voting materials. Plan and coordinate schedules for outreach related events. Plan travel arrangements to attend all Election training, conferences and/or workshops to receive updated accurate information to disclose for outreach.Perform administrative support functions for outreach programs including preparing correspondence, ordering/maintaining supplies, maintaining databases, etc.Assist in providing financial related needs for outreach program budgets.Perform other duties as assigned to assist and prepare for all upcoming elections.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
This job requires working knowledge in election support, administrative and financial services, and project organization. Use of office related computer applications is required.This position will require some travel. This position does require security clearance with the Macon-Bibb County.(ADA) MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR STANDARDS REQUIRED TO PERFORM ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSLANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand written materials. Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors, employees, and the general public. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts, such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing in a professional manner in order to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and/or provide service. In addition, this position requires extensive contact with supervisors, other employees, and the general public.REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret and understand a variety of forms, reports, manuals, regulations, and other means of instruction and guidance.PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
