The following duties are representative of the work required for this job. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
Rolls curbside containers of garbage and dumps into truck hopper.
Picks up garbage cans in backyard for residents with approved disabilities.
Utilizes hydraulic controls to operate and empty hoppers and carts.
Picks up appliances, furniture, limbs, and bulk items by hand or with hand tools.
Assists in cleaning trucks.
Aides in transporting collected material to the landfill/ transfer station.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess a valid Georgia Driver’s License.
SUPERVISORY CONTROL AND RESPONSIBILITIES: None.
TRAVEL: None.
The Sanitation Worker must be knowledgeable of the following principles, procedures, and concepts:
Ability to have the coordination and be in the physical condition required to successfully complete the job.
Ability to lift 100-150 pounds comfortably.
Ability to stand and walk comfortably for long periods.
Ability to understand and accurately follow written and verbal instructions.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read and understand written materials. Ability to effectively communicate information to supervisors, co-workers, and the general public.

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in written form in a professional manner in order to give or exchange information, resolve problems, and/or provide service.

Ability to interpret and understand a variety of forms, reports, manuals, regulations, and other means of instruction and guidance.
