I. Position Summary:
Under general supervision of the RN Charge Nurse, the LPN provides direct nursing care in accordance with the established policies and procedures of Macon County General Hospital in collaboration with the patient, patient’s family and other members of the health care team.
II. Position Requirements:
A. Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Tennessee as a Licensed Practical Nurse
B. Education: Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program.
C. Experience: One (1) year previous experience in acute care preferred.
D. Special qualifications: BLS – health care provider. Good communication skills, both orally and written. Ability to work with others as a team to ensure quality patient care.
III. Degree of Supervision Required:
Involves general guidance and direction by Supervisors and Director of Nursing. The employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures.
IV. Ages of Patients Served:
This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, psycho/social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

VI. Physical Requirements: Must be able to climb, kneel, stoop and perform assigned duties under semi-stressful situations. Physical demands require performing heavy cleaning projects with short notice. Visual acuity is required in order to ensure that work is being done correctly. Work is moderately heavy with frequent lifting and carrying of objects weighing up to 25 pounds and more with assistance and pushing up to 300 pounds with assistance. Work also involves considerable walking, standing, pushing and pulling of equipment. Frequent lifting of patients with assistance.
VII. Personal Protective Equipment:
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, gloves, masks and safety glasses.
II. Performance Standards:
