Job Title: Pharmacy Technician
Reports to (Title): Pharmacist
Supervises: (Positions) None.
I.Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing the manual technical tasks involved with the proper storage, distribution, packagingand labeling of drugs, associated record keeping, and patient charging systems. A Pharmacy Technician also assists withinventory control, drug pricing, ordering of supplies, and performs related clerical duties. Performs special projects of anadministrative nature requiring advanced technical knowledge of department’s operations.
II.Position Requirements:
A.Licensure/Certification/Registration: National Pharmacy Technician certificate is required.
B.Education: H.S. diploma or GED
C.Experience: Four or more years experience as a pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy required/or LPN license.
D.Special qualifications: Good communication skills, both orally and written. Computer skills helpful. Ability to work withothers as a team to ensure quality patient care.
III.Degree of Supervision Required: Involves general guidance and direction by Department Manager.
IV. Ages of Patients Served:
This position requires competence in assessment, treatment, and/or care for the age groups indicated. The staff member must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care, based on physical, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in his/her assigned service area. The skills and knowledge needed to provide such care may be gained through education, training, or experience.

VI. Physical Requirements:
Requires corrected hearing and vision to within functional ranges. Requires frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, lifting of patients, and sufficient manual dexterity to operate therapeutic equipment. Must be able to stand for long periods at a time. Good mental and physical health to work for long periods of time in a highly stressful atmosphere is required. Frequently required to lift or carry 10-20 lbs and occasionally required to lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
VII. Personal Protective Equipment:
This position requires the use of personal protective equipment during various tasks/activities. Personal protective equipment includes, but is not limited to, gloves, masks and safety glasses.

I also understand that information in some patient's records may be governed by federal regulation and that disclosure of such information is punishable by fine or imprisonment, even after I leave the employment of the facility.
