Mad Science of Hampton Roads is currently accepting applications for multiple high-energy, enthusiastic instructors for our After School STEM Programs. You'll enjoy a flexible schedule, but the more availability you have, the more programs you can do!
Responsibilities:
- Bring hands-on STEM programs to elementary students at local schools.
- Teach high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on science programs.
- Most important: Get kids excited about science!
We train you in the curriculum and provide all materials.
Qualifications:
- Instructional experience working with groups of elementary-age children such as prior classroom or camp counselor experience.
- Must have a reliable car.
- All employees must pass a criminal background check.
- Minimum age of 20 years old.
- Minimum education of 2 years of college (associates or 2 years towards 4-year degree).
- Have a fun & outgoing personality!
Schedule:
- Teach 1 hour after school classes scheduled between 2-5 pm Monday - Thursday
- Spend approximately 2 hours at the school to account for set up before and clean up after.
- Friday afternoon staff meetings at our Chesapeake office (maximum of 1 hour)
- Potential instructors need a minimum of 3 afternoons available, with one being Fridays
- Approx. 8 hours of paid training prior to start of classes
