General Manager - Sheet Metal and HVAC

Madden Industrial Craftsmen is seeking a General Manager for a direct hire role with a leading Commercial HVAC and Sheet Metal Manufacturing, Service, and Installation company located in Portland, OR. The person in this position will oversee and optimize day-to-day operations. The GM will work closely with ownership to enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and drive business growth while maintaining the highest standards of quality and customer service.

Pay : $100,000-$130,000 / year plus profit sharing opportunities

General Manager Responsibilities :

Manage production department, including workforce scheduling, material procurement, and inspections coordination.

Direct field technicians in code compliance, troubleshooting, installation, and operational efficiency.

Estimate commercial, residential, and preventive maintenance (PM) projects as needed.

Respond to emergencies during and after hours, coordinating workforce and materials as required.

Enhance the company’s reputation through industry knowledge and superior customer service.

Foster strong relationships with employees and customers to ensure retention and satisfaction.

Identify and implement process improvements to optimize operations and eliminate inefficiencies.

Uphold company confidentiality and maintain a positive workplace morale.

Perform duties independently with minimal supervision, prioritizing effectively.

Act as the operational integrator of the company, complementing the owner’s vision.

General Manager Qualifications :

Extensive experience in the HVAC and sheet metal industry, with a strong understanding of commercial and residential applications.

Proven ability to estimate projects accurately while maintaining profitability preferred but can be trained.

Strong knowledge of building codes and the ability to communicate them effectively to clients and staff.

Expertise in workforce coordination and multi-jobsite management.

Strong troubleshooting skills to resolve jobsite and operational challenges.

Exceptional planning and scheduling abilities, including material estimation and logistics coordination.

Demonstrated ability to implement innovative ideas and improvements within the company.

Leadership experience, with authority to hire, fire, and manage workforce allocation.

Experience in making purchasing decisions, authorizing overtime, and managing resources effectively.
