Job Summary:
As a Paint Your Own Pottery Studio Assistant, you'll play a key role in ensuring that our guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience. You'll assist customers in selecting and painting pottery, provide guidance on techniques, and help maintain a clean and organized studio space. Your passion for art and excellent customer service skills will contribute to a positive and engaging atmosphere. You will also partake in multiple parts of the pottery (and other) processes! This includes glazing pieces, using the kilns and any other services we offer- like soon to be- glass fusion!
Key Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service:
- Greet and welcome guests with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude.
- Provide assistance in selecting pottery pieces and offer guidance on painting techniques.
- Answer questions about studio policies, pottery options, and painting processes.
- Ensure guests have a comfortable and enjoyable experience throughout their visit.
- Remain professional but personable with customers.
2. Studio Maintenance:
- Set up and clean workstations, ensuring all supplies are stocked and organized.
- Maintain a clean and tidy studio environment, including washing and restocking brushes, paints, and other materials. Such as bisque, glass and acrylics.
- Ensure safety protocols are followed, including the proper handling of art supplies and cleaning products.
3. Artistic Assistance:
- Demonstrate and explain painting techniques, such as brushwork, layering, and color mixing.
- Offer creative suggestions and inspiration to guests for their pottery designs.
- Assist with kiln loading and unloading, as well as basic pottery maintenance tasks.
4. Sales and Inventory:
- Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
- Assist in managing inventory levels, including tracking supplies and reporting low stock/needs.
- Promote special events, workshops, and studio promotions to guests.
5. Team Collaboration:
- Work collaboratively with fellow team members to ensure smooth studio operations.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay updated on studio practices and techniques.
Qualifications:
- Customer Service Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with a passion for providing excellent customer service. A community//individual first attitude.
- Artistic Ability: Basic knowledge of painting techniques and an interest in art and pottery. Even if you just doodle, this can be a good fit for you!
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace and manage inventory effectively.
- Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Flexibility: Availability to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays if needed. This is a "Part-Time" and "As Needed" shift.
- Team Player: Ability to work well in a team-oriented environment and contribute to a positive atmosphere.
Preferred Qualifications (Not Needed!!) :
- Previous experience in a retail or art-related setting.
- Familiarity with pottery and kiln operations.
- Basic knowledge of art supplies and their use.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable working with art supplies and cleaning products. Included but not limited to glass, glaze, dust and others.
