Position Summary :
Section Leader shall be responsible to coordinate the technical functions of the assigned section. Position will assure quality, accuracy and timeliness of test results from collection, preparation and analysis of specimens which may include blood, urine, sputum, feces, exudates, secretions and other body fluids on a complete age spectrum of patients, newborn through geriatric. Analyzes specimens, reports results, maintains inventory and quality control for section(s). Ensures that staff is trained properly to perform assigned duties within the section(s). Responsible for assuring the performance of automated and semi-automated instruments, performs testing and reports results. Assists in budget preparation and supervises technical staff as they rotate through the section. Is a resource person for nursing, medical staff and laboratory staff and students. The position performs the responsibilities of the Technical Consultant, General Supervisor, and testing personnel.
Qualifications :
Requires Bachelor degree in Medical Technology or related field, with Current State of California Clinical Laboratory Scientist License.
Prefer two (2) years experience in a clinical laboratory with progressively increasing responsibility. Prefer two (2) years experience in an acute care hospital laboratory setting.
