What are the responsibilities and job description for the Van Driver position at Madera Rehabilitation & Nursing Center?
POSITION SUMMARY
The purpose of your job position is to transport residents to and from their doctor’s appointments in a timely and safe manner. The driver will comply with all federal, state and local regulations that govern the facility and as directed by management and / or the Administrator.
The Van Driver will treat each resident with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. They will assure that each resident is secure and comfortable during transport. They will work cooperatively with all departments. They will be committed to always doing the right thing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Driving the facility van
Ensuring the van is clean and safely operating
Coordinating doctor appointment times with Social Services and Activities departments
Exhibiting kindness and caring during the transporting of residents
Other duties may be assigned
Follow safety regulations and precautions at all times
Reporting any occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, or other hazardous materials to a supervisor immediately

REQUIREMENTS
Education / Licensure
High school diploma or GED preferred
Valid CA license and insurance
Qualifications / Experience
Minimum 1 year of experience transporting residents to and from doctor’s appointments
Must have excellent time management and organizational skills
Must be able a safe driver with a good record
Must be able to read, write, and communicate in the English language
Must be able to follow detailed directions
Working Conditions
May be requested to work beyond scheduled hours or assist in another department
May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
May be subjected to odors, dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoking or air contaminants
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit, stand, move and drive intermittently throughout the day
Repetitive hand motion
Must be able to push, pull, move and or lift up to 50 lbs. on occasion
Ability to read fine notes and addresses
