DEAN OF CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION AND ASSESSMENTPurpose Statement
Provide leadership, expertise and support at the school site level for the full implementation of specific core and intervention content in grades 9-12. Provide on-going, job-embedded training and support for teachers in the school to build their capacity and effectiveness. Provided services will be supplementary to the district's base line program. Works under the direction of the site administration and does not evaluate any staff. This position reports to the site Principal.Specific Responsibilities
- Provides coaching and modeling for teachers in organizing instruction, lesson design, instructional delivery and assessment related to English language arts, English language development, social studies, science and math. Effective teaching and learning strategies for English Learners, students with disabilities and students with divers learning needs will be a priority.
- Conducts demonstration lessons, one on one observations, coaching and facilitates group observations to insure that all teachers have been trained to an advanced level of delivery and are using the instructional materials as designed.
- Provides on-site professional development to ensure that teachers are knowledgeable about core and intervention program components and understand the instructional design of how the program meets the standards.
- Assists teachers in building an interactive classroom environment focused on the content and instructional strategies embedded in the program.
- Serves, as a resource in identifying appropriate instructional strategies and interventions to improve student achievement for all students including English learners, students with disabilities and students with diverse learning needs.
- Assists teachers with adhering to course content, course guides and pacing guides.
- Participates in collaborative grade level or department meetings, as assigned, to assist in the analysis and utilization of assessment data to improve student achievement.
- Prepares forms, records, and reports as directed.
- Attends meetings and trainings as directed.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in professional development activities as provided by district, county, state and other consultants.
- Observes and model instructors, and offers insights for the enhancement of the teaching-learning situation.
- Assumes responsibility for reviewing and evaluating results of assessment programs, and other evaluative measures used by site and district.
- Participates with CTE coordinators, business and industry leaders in curriculum and instruction at state, regional, and national levels.
- Work in conjunction with the secondary district academic coaches (DAC)

- Advanced course work and/or training in core and intervention curriculum and instructional strategies specific to the duties of the job (i.e. Reading Masters, Math Masters, or Certified Trainer, AB 466/SB472 (training and follow-up).
- Five years of successful teaching experience.
- High level of understanding of the assigned core and intervention subject matter.
- Experience working with groups in curriculum development or related fields.
- Experience in planning and delivering professional development activities.
- Experience in site/teacher leadership roles (i.e. grade/department lead, MIC support provider, leadership teams, etc.)
- Administrative Services Credential
- Valid California Drivers’ License
- Mobility sufficient to move about, stand, and/or sit for extended periods, and access all locations in the work environment.
- Manual skill to appropriately control and manipulate objects, tools, materials, and equipment used on the job, including a telephone and a computer.
- Flexibility and strength to reach with hands and arms, bend and stoop.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal room levels, and to hear and understand speech on the telephone.
- Ability to speak in audible tones so that others may understand clearly in normal conversations and on the telephone.
- Ability to see, read, and distinguish colors, with or without vision aids: computer screen, equipment used in the work environment, instructional materials, training materials, directions, rules, policies, calendars, agendas, manuals, and other printed matter.
- Physical strength and agility to push, pull, squat, twist, turn, and lift and carry bulky objects of up to 25 pounds with or without assistance.
- Mental acuity to perform the essential functions of this position in a safe, accurate, neat, and timely fashion and to make and evaluate the results of judgments and decisions.
- Ability to drive a car.
Salary : $119,542 - $134,103
