What are the responsibilities and job description for the Monona Terrace Operations Worker position at Madison, City of (WI)?
This is routine manual and unskilled work relating to the set-up/tear-down of events while meeting constant deadlines, and lending assistance to custodial services for Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center. Under the general direction of the Assistant Operations Managers, employees in this class will perform event set-up/tear-down and custodial/cleaning activities a majority of the time, with regular assignments in other areas as workload and event conversion timetables require. The work involves working cooperatively with other operations' team members to ensure that customer needs are being met and having regular contact with the general public and clients. The work is performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, methods, and routines; may involve serving as crew leader for small groups of non-permanent employees; and is reviewed through inspection and observation of assigned work areas. Work schedule includes nights, weekends, and holidays.

Employees perform a variety of custodial and set-up/tear-down activities for events, including:
- Setting-up and tearing-down equipment, such as tables, chairs, risers, dance floors and staging materials;
- Giving set up instructions to other nonpermanent staff as necessary;
- Moving equipment and materials between storage and event rooms;
- Performing custodial and cleaning tasks, such as cleaning, sweeping, moping, dusting, scrubbing, carpet extraction and waxing floors and stairways;
- Vacuuming carpeted areas;
- Emptying waste receptacles and disposing of trash;
- Cleaning restrooms;
- Performing minor maintenance functions;
- Operating forklifts and other material moving equipment;
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with staff, vendors, City agencies and Monona Terrace clients and guests;
- Other duties as assigned.
- Six (6) months of experience performing custodial, routine maintenance, or other related manual work. Depending on the number of applications, random selection may be used to determine who will proceed to the interview process.

Physical Requirements:
- All employees in these positions must have the ability to lift and move objects weighing as much as 100 pounds occasionally and 25 pounds on a regular basis.
- All employees are expected to perform heavy manual labor work for extended periods of time in variable weather conditions.
- Work may involve walking over uneven surfaces, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and stooping.
